Progressive vs. Non-link Thumbs
Some out of state equipment dealers install non link thumbs on all their large excavators. A non link thumb will work but is not as good or flexible as a progressive link thumb and costs considerably less. We utilize progressive link thumbs on most late model full size excavators and match the number of tines to the bucket. For a 5 tooth bucket you get a 4 tine thumb!
Below are photos of a progressive link thumb in different positions and note how it follows the bucket thru the curl radius. A progressive link thumb is faster. If you are comparing machines and prices, compare apple to apples, know if you are getting a non-link thumb. If you desire to save the money we can order non-link thumbs for your machine. Non-link thumbs are used on most mini-excavators.
